TITAN Live powers the first IPTV 4K-UHD channel in France

TITAN Live-enabled Festival 4K is the first 100% 4K-UHD native channel in France

Paris, France/Florida, USA/Singapore—ATEME has announced that Basmedia, a centralised and decentralised playout service provider, is launching the HEVC Ultra High Definition (UHD) service “Festival 4K”, using TITAN Live.

TITAN Live is a virtualised software-based encoder-transcoder, with support for HEVC, H264 and MPEG2. TITAN Live supports resolutions from mobile devices to 4K-UHD, including:

  •  Premium Video quality: TITAN Live is based on ATEME’s fifth generation STREAM compression engine, enabling both high CBR VQ at minimum bitrate and QAM density increase without compromising video quality
  • Future-proof and easily scalable: TITAN Live can be easily upgraded to support HEVC and 4K-UHD, ensuring customers deploying H264 services with an upgrade path to HEVC and monetization of their hardware investment
  •  True software-based solution: this pure CPU solution is hardware agnostic delivering high VQ at high density without the need any hardware acceleration

“Basmedia is always searching for innovative partners to provide solutions for breakthrough channels like Festival 4K,” said Bas Ardesch at Basmedia. “The TITAN Live enables us to offer 4K-UHD services, using COTS servers, while delivering high video quality with high density for our customers.”
