Los Angeles – Life of Pi won Achievement in Visual Effects at the 85th Academy Awards, with the honours going to Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer and Donald R. Elliott. Westenhofer previously won the Oscar for visual effects for The Golden Compass and was nominated for his work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This was a first-time nomination and win for Rocheron, De Boer and Elliott.
The Life of Pi team is headed by visual effects supervisor Westenhofer from Rhythm & Hues, with MPC visual effects supervisor Rocheron, animation director De Boer and special effects technician Elliott.
