As the clock ticks slowly towards the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community forming an economic bloc across the region, the Department of Tourism, Thailand Film Office (TFO) realizes that not only will their foreign film production service business increase, but newly developing countries like Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar will cause a more competitive market for international location filming.

The industry already benefits from initiatives such as the South Korea-backed non-profit Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), which is fostering regional cooperation and helping leapfrog member countries into the foreign production services business.
