China – TSL has further extended the PAM product range with the PAM1-3G16, in addition to audio-monitoring devices for control rooms and facilities it already offers. This strips audio from dual stream 3Gb/s SDI inputs, displaying up to 16 audio channels on high resolution bargraphs in a very compact 1U cabinet. Chinese national broadcaster, CCTV, is the first broadcaster to purchase the product. It has already ordered a large number of units. The unit not only provides accurate level metering, it also has loudness monitoring to ITU BS1770/71 built in, and is capable of displaying Dolby metadata on one of the twin OLED screens. Alternatively, one of the screens can be set as a confidence video monitor. The first sale of the PAM1-3G16 is part of a large order for audio monitoring equipment from CCTV for its central operations building in Beijing. Recently appointed head of sales for TSL products in the Far East Yuhui Wang led the negotiations. “This was an open tender for CCTV, which takes great care in evaluating equipment before committing to an order,” said Yuhui Wang. “We worked closely together, and it was clear that the PAM1-3G16 was the best technical solution for their requirements. It forms part of a significantly larger order for various PAM1 and PAM2 audio monitoring units.”
