Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) shortlists 27 film projects for 2009

The Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) has selected 27 film projects for the event’s 7th edition in March 2009. The region’s premier co-production film financing market, the HAF attracts both world-renowned and up-and-coming filmmakers. This edition features directors from 11 territories including Australia, Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, The Philippines and Vietnam. HAF director Jacob Wong expressed support for the selected projects. “A lot of the projects we received are pretty awesome, in matters of story and story-telling, from newcomers as well as seasoned filmmakers like Naomi Kawase (Japan), Ning Hao (China) and Brillante Mendoza (The Philippines). We very much look forward to the realization of these projects as we are quite confident that they’ll have an impact on the future of the medium.” Among the selected projects are And Protect, Protected (Japan) by Naomi Kawase, Christmas Rose (Hong Kong) by Charlie Young, The Murderer (Korea) by Na Hong-jin, The Hero (China) by Ning Hao, Seediq Bale (Taiwan) by Wei Te-Sheng, I’m Good, Mom (Taiwan) by Chang Tso-Chi, Help (China) by Li Ying, Chop Chop (The Philippines/France) by Brillante Mendoza, Enko aka Compensated Dating (Hong Kong) by Wong Chun Chun, Sleep with Hypnotist (China) by Lu Chuan.
