Jordan’s debut Sundance entry finished with Iridas SpeedGrade DI

USA: Captain Abu Raed, Jordan’s first feature film entry to the Sundance Film Festival was finished with Iridas SpeedGrade DI. Written and directed by Amin Matalqa, Captain Abu Raed premiered on Jan 23 at the Egyptian Theater during the festival held from 17 – 27 Jan in Park City, Utah. Set in Amman, Jordan, Matalqa’s debut effort follows Abu Raed, a janitor at the airport whom the children in his neighborhood believe to be a pilot. Humoring them with made-up stories of his travels, Abu Raed is then drawn into the harsh realities of the children’s lives. Clark Graff from Gigapix Studios was technical, production and post supervisor, while Mark Read was the film’s colorist. Based on Matalqa’s creative vision, Read used SpeedGrade DI’s secondaries and tracking tools to create three main color moods to support the story where specific musical instruments in the film score and color schemes were associated with different figures. SpeedGrade DI 2007 is part of the SpeedGrade family of non-destructive color grading applications. Further information is available from Iridas at +49 89 3303 5142 or at www.speedgrade.com
