Event details for MIPCOM Junior announced

France: Details for the 15th edition of MIPCOM Junior, the specialist international screening marketplace and conference for children’s programming and merchandising taking place on October 6 – 7 at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes, have been announced. Taking place ahead of the MIPCOM content market which runs from 8 – 12 October, MIPCOM Junior will feature Rich Ross, president of Disney Channel Worldwide, presenting a keynote address on reasons behind the channel’s success on October 7. Key conferences include the Buyers’ Summit which brings together programming executives from international broadcasters to address what buyers want, and the Digital Kids! Panel which explores the latest opportunities in cross-platform kids’ entertainment and social communities. Speakers include executives from Warner Bros., BBC, SuperRTL, ABC Children, Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, ZDF, Hasbro, Fisher Price and Jetix. Also, in conjunction with the “India Day” country focus at MIPCOM, MIPCOM Junior will host speakers from the Indian entertainment industry to discuss programming produced in India which broadcast in both domestic and international markets. The To be held on October 6, the MIPCOM Junior Licensing Challenge the competition enables delegates to put their property forward to the TV community to win licensing deals. Leigh Anne Brodsky, president of Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, will lead the jury which comprises of toy manufacturers, agents and broadcasters who will evaluate and select from five shortlisted non-aired projects based on the potential for licensing and merchandising. A record 47 projects including 11 from UK were submitted this year. MIPCOM Junior 2006 attracted 829 participants from 529 companies and 52 countries. 937 programs were presented of which 562 were new. The 2007 edition is organized by Reed Midem in partnership with the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association, French consultancy agency Kazachok, Canadian magazine Kidscreen and trade magazine License!
